Statistics on medical schools with the largest applicant pools for fall 2015

U.S. News and World Report highlights the following medical schools as the top 10 institutions that received the most applications for fall 2015.

Erie, Pa.-based Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine received the most applications, with 15,475 people applying for admission to the fall 2015 entering class, according to data U.S. News acquired from surveys submitted by 116 ranked medical schools.

The institution took over the top spot from Drexel University, a Philadelphia-based school that saw the most applicants last year and had 15,282 applicants for fall 2015.

New to the list this year is Rhode Island-based Brown University and Touro College of Osteopathic Medicine in New York.

According to U.S. News, the average among the 10 medical schools with the largest applicant pools was 12,194. Three of the schools — George Washington University, Georgetown University and Brown University — were among the medical schools with the lowest admission rates for fall 2015.
